Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Performing technical work specific to electrical, equipment review, etc. Sign off on engineering design & certifications. Work with external vendors.
- Make sure new designs meet GE Aerospace and industry standards for all regulatory and safety requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and utility system issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address facility electrical related challenges.
- Develop new solutions under guidance and / or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations
- Work together with business leadership at SPB and EB levels
- Specify needs, communicate about project approach and present outcomes of research done
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years Electrical Engineering experience + minimum of 3 years high voltage experience
Desired Characteristics
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
- Proven analytical and organizational ability
- Experience specifying, installing, testing and operating electrical equipment
- Experience with voltage levels for equipment vary from 138KV, 480 V and 280/120V
- Supporting maintenance teams
- Lighting controls
- Power monitoring and metering equipment
- Arc Flash studies and power protection schemes
- Directing and organizing groups of electricians
- Experience with NFPA 70, 70 B and 70E
