What you'll be doing
In this role, you'll lead the electrical design process from concept through to detailed design, ensuring systems meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and operational needs. You'll take ownership of creating specifications, presenting design options, and guiding solutions through the full design lifecycle.
You'll work closely with engineers, project managers, production teams, and customers to translate requirements into validated and verified designs that support efficient manufacturing and through-life support. You'll also be a key customer-facing engineer, able to communicate technical detail with clarity and confidence.
Your work will span prototype development, test definition, engineering change control, and supporting the legacy fleet. You'll play a critical part in ensuring NP Aerospace continues to deliver safe, robust, and innovative solutions across current and future vehicle programmes.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise, systems thinking, and a collaborative mindset. You'll ideally have:
- A proven track record delivering electrical design projects from concept to launch within defence or automotive sectors
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a design office using 3D CAD (Creo 9.0 preferred)
- Experience using PLM software (Windchill 12.0 preferred)
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and cable/harness design to BS8888
- Familiarity with armoured vehicle electrical subsystems such as EMC, ECM/EECM, BOWMAN and situational awareness systems
- Knowledge of configuration control and change management (Def Stan 05-57)
- Experience in validation and verification of products, including environmental requirements
- Strong systems engineering understanding
- Experience producing Design FMEAs and applying robust engineering practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office
Bonus points if you have:
- Military vehicle or subsystem design experience
- Experience managing product lifecycle and supply chain interaction
- SolidWorks or Arcadia experience
- Creo cabling module proficiency
- Experience working with the UK MoD or involvement in complex bid submissions
- Existing SC clearance
