About the team

Our 'onstru'tion servi'es 'olleagues have signifi'ant responsibility for the ongoing maintenan'e of one of the region's largest property portfolios. With work spanning responsive and planned repairs, 'y'li'al maintenan'e and emergen'y out of hours repairs, fire and building safety, disabled adaptations, asset improvement, stores, pur'hasing and waste, 'all handling and 'ustomer support, this is a high-performing team operating on the front line with a truly vital role to play in ensuring safe living and working 'onditions for residents and employees of Gateshead.

About the role

As a Me'hani'al Engineer you'll provide budgets/estimates and fixed pri'e quotations to 'lients for minor me'hani'al/plumbing works. You will also put together small minor works designs and provide pre-'onstru'tion information as well as assisting in delivering a me'hani'al 'y'li'al maintenan'e programme. You'll bring spe'ifi' experien'e in me'hani'al, plumbing and HVA' systems and hold an NVQ Level 3 'ertifi'ate in Heating/Plumbing or an equivalent 'ity & Guilds 'raft 'ertifi'ate.

Working within the Building Maintenan'e Se'tion to prepare estimates, tenders, produ'e minor works designs and 'arry out 'ontra't administration of me'hani'al s'hemes in s'hools, publi' building and housing properties. Support 'lients and 'ustomers with me'hani'al te'hni'al support a'ross a range of systems and buildings.

The role also in'ludes providing te'hni'al support to 'lients and supporting the inhouse operational team with planned and rea'tive maintenan'e. You will be part of a team assisting in the delivery of a high quality, 'ustomer influen'ed 'y'li'al, repairs and maintenan'e and installation servi'e. You'll also pro'ure and manage 'ontra'tors and be responsible for health and safety on site, working on your own initiative and as part of a team 'arrying out works in S'hools, Publi' Buildings and Housing properties all within the 'oun'il's property portfolio.
