Instrument Engineer – Leading Oil & Gas Operator – Norwich Based

We’re supporting a leading Oil & Gas operator who is looking for an experienced Instrument Engineer to take ownership of instrumentation integrity and reliability across their offshore assets and their onshore terminals at Bacton and Dimlington.
 
You’ll be the go-to person for day-to-day instrumentation support, maintenance oversight, troubleshooting, and project input. You'll also play a key role in guiding and assessing Instrument Technicians, while working closely with the Instrument Technical Authority to shape policies and standards.
 
This is a long-term, Monday–Friday position based in Norwich, with travel offshore or to terminals when required.
 
What you’ll be doing:
  • Handling day-to-day instrumentation issues and ensuring technical integrity across offshore and onshore facilities.
  • Specifying, selecting, and procuring instrument upgrades and replacements, including risk assessments and MOC documentation.
  • Guiding technicians and multi-discipline engineers on repairs, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Reviewing maintenance and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring all activities meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in HAZOPs, LOPAs, FATs, Constructability Reviews and more.
  • Improving reliability and production efficiency through smart technologies, planning, and cost-effective discipline management.
 
What you’ll bring:
  • Chartered status or minimum HNC/HND in a relevant discipline.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas.
  • Strong operational knowledge across offshore and onshore gas operations.
  • Based in the UK with the right to work
