Job Title: Electrical Professional Working on Substations

Employment Conditions: Permanent position

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical substations, including site layout and equipment arrangement, general electrical layout, elevations, busbars, grounding grids, lightning protection, etc.;
  • Prepare specifications for materials, equipment, and construction work, and select equipment and materials;
  • Perform optimal designs in accordance with industry standards, specifications, and engineering best practices;
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, best practices, and constructability;
  • Coordinate design activities with members of the multidisciplinary project team;
  • Support resolution of field issues/non-conformities, attend site meetings, and perform site inspections during the construction phase of projects;
  • Maintain complete project documentation related to engineering studies and calculations, designs, as-built requirements, and feedback;
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal and external groups supporting projects, such as other engineering disciplines, drafting, project management, etc.;
  • Assist senior engineers in various engineering and design activities;
  • Mentor and support team engineers in their development.


Requirements:

  • Familiar with industry standards through certain organizations, such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE);
  • Knowledge of and experience using AutoCAD;
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical network simulation software, such as CYME, PSSE, ETAP;
  • Knowledge and experience with high-voltage electrical networks, substation equipment (switchgear, protection and control), as well as distribution systems, typically at voltages of 25 kV, 120 kV, 230 kV, or higher;
  • Experience working for a public utility;
  • Knowledge of substation and power plant instrumentation and their digitization.
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment, act as an informed owner, and maintain a strong customer focus;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required;
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline considered an asset.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in the design, operation, or execution of electrical substations.


Language:

  • Proficiency in French (working language) and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.


Employment Conditions:

  • Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
  • Salary range: Between $96,428 and $143,600 per year
