Job Requirements

At Quest Global, it's not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different. With over 25 years as an engineering services provider, we believe in the power of doing things differently to make the impossible possible. Our people are driven by the desire to make the world a better place-to make a positive difference that contributes to a brighter future. We bring together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals who are empowered by an intentional workplace culture, to solve problems better and faster.

This job request is a combination of actual two similar requirements with SMR under designation names
  1. Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer
  2. Senior Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Modelling and Simulation Engineer

and respective job descriptions are

Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer:
• Working with Process, Mechanical and Electrical plant systems Engineers to translate high level requirements into a specification for Control and Instrumentation (C&I) systems.
• Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components and systems to facilitate effective system design.
• Assess and substantiate that the design specification meets the requirements.
• Ensuring compliance against international standards in particular, IEC 61513, IEC61226 and IEC61508.
• Produce verification and validation plans, and define test plans to demonstrate that the C&I system requirements have been satisfied.
• Support to planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the life cycle of C&I systems.
• Ensure that optimum solutions are provided for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant by supporting the procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of the equipment.
• Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.

Senior Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Modelling and Simulation Engineer

1.
• Planning model development work within an agile framework.
• Development of the modelling and simulation and validation and verification environments, policies, procedures, and tool sets.
• Development of simulation model architectures and integration of system component models.
• Development of models and simulations suitable for C&I design activities and validation and verification of C&I functional requirements.
• Development of models, custom code and simulations suitable for real-time and accelerated simulation of nuclear power plant and C&I systems.
• Validation of Integration of Software models into simulation model architectures.
• Liaising with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective C&I design.
and As modelling and simulation Engineer

You will be accountable for delivering packages of work to time, cost and quality requirements.
You will be involved in the development, validation and verification of software simulation models of the nuclear power plant and C&I systems using suitable modelling tools and software validation and verification techniques.
You will work with the broader EC&I team and other teams/disciplines to support C&I design activities and validation and verification of C&I functional requirements.
You will act as a responsible designer and intelligent customer dependent on the task you are working on.
You will coach junior engineers, and the broader EC&I team in Modelling and Simulation techniques.

We are known for our extraordinary people who make the impossible possible every day. Questians are driven by hunger, humility, and aspiration. We believe that our company culture is the key to our ability to make a true difference in every industry we reach. Our teams regularly invest time and dedicated effort into internal culture work, ensuring that all voices are heard.

We wholeheartedly believe in the diversity of thought that comes with fostering a culture rooted in respect, where everyone belongs, is valued, and feels inspired to share their ideas. We know embracing our unique differences makes us better, and that solving the worlds hardest engineering problems requires diverse ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds. We shine the brightest when we tap into the many dimensions that thrive across over 21,000 difference-makers in our workplace.

Work Experience

Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer:

Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical C&I systems. This together with a good understanding of the principles of designing systems to be functionally resilient to faults (such as redundancy and diversity) would be beneficial.

Knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards for systems important to safety (e.g. IEC 61508, IEC 61226, IEC 61513).

Knowledge and experience of applying systems engineering methodologies including Model Based Systems Engineering to C&I systems

Experience in taking information, understanding, and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, which includes formal communications to the appropriate stakeholders

The ability to provide technical oversight of the work carried out by others and making technical judgements/decisions on behalf of the RR SMR organisation i.e. discharging the intelligent customer role.

Hold a degree level qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems or mechatronics.

Applicants without a degree who can nevertheless demonstrate suitable knowledge and experience may also be considered
