The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Coryton Power Station. We are expanding our Engineering team to strengthen our technical capability and support the long-term performance of our recently upgraded plant.

The Coryton Team
The Coryton team is a group of highly skilled individuals focused on delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy. We manage the operations and maintenance of our Combined Cycle Power Plant, striving for high reliability and continuous improvement through our team mindset, knowledge, skills, and passion. Our goal is to deliver sustainable generation and become a flexible, effective, and reliable power plant to support a diverse yet connected electricity supply system.

Key Responsibilities
• Responsibility for the Mechanical Engineering assets such as steam and gas turbines, generators, HRSG, pressure system, gas pipeline and associated balance of plant equipment
• Manage the major mechanical assets, define and arrange periodic maintenance, develop and address recommendations, monitor ongoing health and progress project work from inception to completion
• Co-ordinating, planning and supervising the execution of outages and projects from budget development to planning and execution
• Liaise with the maintenance and operation teams to investigate plant issues and implement solutions, in particular resolving reliability issues.
• Drive performance improvement projects to deliver against KPIs, including setting, tracking and communicating
• Support the wider InterGen teams on short terms secondments where appropriate
• Support initiatives as directed by the Engineering Manager
• Attend relevant training and industry conferences to ensure knowledge and expertise is current.
• Provide suitable cover for other Engineers and the Engineering Manager in their absence
• To be on call and to change working patterns where necessary in order to support the team and meet the needs of the business

You're proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable working in a small team environment, including providing on-call and out-of-hours support to keep Coryton running smoothly. Education/Experience
• Degree qualified in an Engineering or related discipline is preferred, however other Engineering qualifications may be considered if evidenced by suitable practical experience within the power or similar industry
• Solid understanding of all HSE aspects it's a fundamental requirement - NEBOSH or IOSH qualification would be advantageous but is not essential
• A minimum of five years power industry experience would be desirable but experience within heavy industry and/or technical production environments would be considered.
• Experience of project management from concept to closure is preferred
