Role Summary

We are recruiting a Capital Engineering Projects Manager to the capital team based at North Devon District Hospital, working with the Deputy Head of Capital Projects to manage the feasibility, design, construction and project management of all Capital projects across northern sites to take lead responsibility for the engineering input to Capital Contracts, including major Trust redevelopment works and back-log requirements.

The postholder will appoint, instruct and manage external consultants and contractors, ensuring that formal documented briefings have taken place and all work is reviewed.

The successful applicant will have industry experience of installing/managing complex engineering schemes.

This postholder will provide the Deputy Head of Capital Projects with professional and technical engineering advice and information, and work with the Head of Estates to ensure that budgetary management is effective in the delivery of construction and infrastructure works for individual capital schemes. They will give assurance to the Deputy Head of Capital Projects and the wider senior management team of appropriate management of the existing estate in line with best practice guidance, HTM's HBNs and other mandatory and statutory guidance.

They will act as Trusts authorised/responsible manager for a range of services including Pressure systems, Piped medical gases, Electrical high voltage and Low voltage systems working with the Trust's energy management team to ensure that utility consumption is reviewed at all stages of the planning and installation of schemes.

They will also advise on, and ensure, compliance with HTMs and HBNs Building regulations, T&C Planning requirements, Environmental Health, CDM, DDA, Privacy and Dignity, relevant technical guidance and other statutory requirements associated with the construction process.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday (Weekends and out of hours by exception) at NDDH, with participation in the Estate's on-call rota.
