We are seeking an experienced FPSO Water Treatment & Chemical Area Lead to join a major offshore FPSO development. This is a long-term residential role based at a shipyard in China, supporting the full life cycle of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up of the FPSO Water Treatment and Chemical systems.
Role Overview Reporting to the FPSO Technical Manager and working in close coordination with the Process Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical follow-up, execution, and integration of Water Treatment and Chemical packages from engineering through offshore start-up and handover to Operations & Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced FPSO Water Treatment & Chemical Area Lead to join a major offshore FPSO development. This is a long-term residential role based at a shipyard in China, supporting the full life cycle of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up of the FPSO Water Treatment and Chemical systems.
Role Overview Reporting to the FPSO Technical Manager and working in close coordination with the Process Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical follow-up, execution, and integration of Water Treatment and Chemical packages from engineering through offshore start-up and handover to Operations & Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all activities related to FPSO Water Treatment and Chemical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and H3SE requirements.
- Follow up engineering development by contractors and vendors, providing timely technical review and guidance.
- Manage procurement, expediting, and delivery of equipment and modules up to shipyard delivery.
- Oversee construction, modularization, integration, pre-commissioning, onshore commissioning, and preparation for offshore commissioning and start-up.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA/QC, Commissioning, and other discipline leads to ensure effective interface management.
- Monitor physical progress, task sheets, punch lists, and proactively drive issue resolution and risk mitigation.
- Participate in technical meetings, risk assessments, and reviews; anticipate challenges and propose practical solutions.
- Ensure quality control of contractor deliverables, construction procedures, and commissioning documentation.
- Maintain strong communication with contractors and vendors, providing leadership and technical direction.
- Report progress, risks, and key technical issues to the FPSO Technical Manager, including recommendations and mitigation measures.
- Support smooth handover to O&M teams and contribute to lessons learned (REX) documentation.
- Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years’ professional experience, including at least 10 years on major FPSO or offshore projects.
- Strong experience with Water Treatment and Chemical systems in FPSO or offshore production facilities.
- Proven background in engineering follow-up, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Strong knowledge of international codes, standards, and offshore project execution practices.
- Fluent English required; French and/or Chinese is an advantage.
- Advanced user of Excel and project reporting tools.
- Autonomous, proactive, and solution-oriented.
- Strong technical leadership and multitasking capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Team player with strong analytic and synthesis abilities.
- Committed to high H3SE standards and ethical conduct.
