Job Description:
Your Impact
  • Providing the Integrated Project Team (IPT) with clear expectations of the engineering outcomes, ensuring that they operate consistently within the Policies, Procedures and Governance framework within Leonardo.
  • The PEL will support, and coordinate specialist engineering teams within the IPT focused on Data Enablement within a Digital Thread and other Enabling capabilities for FCAS/GCAP as required.
  • You may be required to engage with international partners for the delivery of enabling capabilities across the international domain.

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with the GCAP Enablers Core Management Team to resolve technical or programme conflicts and ensure that any design rationale is documented.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager & Product Owner producing effective, efficient and realistic plans to deliver the solution (risks/opportunities are identified, estimates are validated, stakeholders buy in).
  • Functional Line Management for allocated engineering staff.
  • Ensuring effective alignment of the Company's Lifecycle Management, including Design & Gate Reviews and Processes with the Enablers Agile Framework.
  • Provide Engineering Management leadership to an Agile multi-disciplinary, IPT across the project lifecycle to deliver the plans on time, in budget and to quality standards (lifecycle reviews are held, reporting mechanisms are in place, high level of motivation maintained within the team, consistent high level of performance achieved).
  • Ensure the engineering team delivers the "best value" solution compliant with the customer's technical and budgetary requirements, contractually and is consistent with the business strategy.
  • Reviewing the current engineering positions on projects and adapting plans as required to mitigate risks to either cost, schedule or performance budgets.
  • Prepare and communicate engineering status reports for management and each of their assigned projects.
  • Coordinate engineering input into bids as part of the wider business winning process.
  • Ensure re-use and modularity across Enabling solutions between FCAS/GCAP and wider Leonardo UK business.
  • Manage and communicate issues to GCAP Enablers Core Management Team.
  • Work closely and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Deliver to agreed performance targets.
  • Support the teams working in an Agile manner.

  • Demonstrative experience in Data Engineering.

It would be nice if you had:
  • Proven technical expertise and management on Defence programmes and full knowledge and experience of other related disciplines.
  • Understanding of financial management and impacts on programmes.
  • Experience in a "customer facing" role.
  • Experience of interaction with senior external personnel on significant engineering matters often requiring coordination between organisations.
  • Have experience of all lifecycle phases i.e. Development, Manufacture and Support.
  • Demonstrative experience in managing projects that modernise a company's technology, processes, and services to improve efficiency and innovation.
