Purpose of the Role
To support and lead engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The Project Engineer will collaborate cross-functionally to implement technical solutions that improve manufacturing processes and support strategic initiatives.
A Day in the life of a Project Engineer:
• Project Planning & Execution: Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and budgets. Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful delivery.
• Technical Coordination: Collaborate with design, production, and maintenance teams to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with factory capabilities.
• Supplier & Contractor Management: Liaise with external suppliers and contractors for equipment, services, and installations. Manage contracts, timelines, and quality of deliverables.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, risk assessments, and progress reports.
• Cost Control: Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all projects comply with local regulations, environmental standards, and internal safety policies. Participate in risk assessments and safety audits.
• Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes, equipment efficiency, and energy usage.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with HSE, production, quality and logistics teams to ensure project alignment with operational goals at factory level. Collaborate with Central Teams to guarantee project is delivered according to Nestlé standards and utilizing category approved technology platforms.
• Technology Integration: Support the introduction of new technologies, automation systems, and digital tools to enhance factory performance.
• Training & Support: Provide technical training and support to operators and maintenance teams during project handover and implementation in collaboration with OSL (Operational Start-up Leader)
• Sustainability Initiatives: Contribute to projects that support sustainability goals, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and circular economy practices in line with Nestlé MM0 targets (i.e. carbon neutral manufacturing operations by 2050)
• Foster a positive and engaging work environment by encouraging collaboration, celebrating achievements, and promoting a culture where having fun at work is valued.
What will make you successful?
• Bachelor's or master degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
• 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment, preferably in Food/Pharma/FMCG industries.
• Proven experience in project management and technical problem-solving. PMI or similar certification is a plus. Working in Maintenance dep. Is alternatively positively evaluated.
• Driving license category B.
• Fluent in Italian and English (spoken and written).
