Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Site Agent to take ownership of civil engineering works on a large, complex infrastructure project. You will lead site delivery, manage subcontractors and supply chain partners, and ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, to budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a key leadership role requiring strong engineering knowledge, commercial awareness, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Project Delivery

Manage day-to-day site operations and systems of work for allocated disciplines.

Coordinate subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure safe and efficient delivery.

Develop construction programmes and support budget forecasting with senior management.

Track progress and productivity, producing weekly and monthly performance reports.

Maintain a detailed daily site diary, including progress, variations, attendance, and key discussions.
Commercial & Cost Control

Manage subcontractor works in accordance with contract conditions.

Work closely with QS and Commercial teams to capture change, early warnings, risks, and opportunities.

Produce Bottom-Up Forecasts and manage change control items.

Reconcile planned vs actual resources for reporting and cost control.

Ensure delivery tickets are correctly cost-coded and submitted for processing.

Maintain accurate records of resources used on additional works.
Quality & Engineering Management

Prepare and implement Inspection and Test Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.

Take responsibility for overall quality management and assurance through to handover.

Identify, record, and communicate non-conformances to QA teams.

Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, and engineering best practice.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Provide strong leadership in safety, health, and wellbeing across all site activities.

Ensure the highest standards of H&S compliance are consistently achieved.

Promote a proactive and positive safety culture on site.
Leadership & Team Management
-
Manage, supervise, and mentor Site Engineers and Assistant Engineers.

Ensure effective engineering control and accurate site records.
-
Review performance, training, and development needs of direct reports.
-
Ensure full adherence to company policies, procedures, and values.
Essential Requirements
-
Civil Engineering–related qualification.
-
SMSTS certification.
-
Relevant CSCS card.
-
CPCS Lifting Appointed Person – mandatory.
-
Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction methodologies.
-
Extensive technical knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques.
-
Knowledge of construction contract law and standard forms of contract.
-
Clean UK driving licence.
-
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
Proven experience delivering civil engineering works as a Site Agent or similar role.
