As a member of the Fluids discipline within the Engineering Department, the Fluids Engineer shall provide an engineering service for the company in either an individual basis or as part of a team.
The engineer will be responsible for the Engineering of a specific portion of a project. Project responsibilities; productivity, technical output, progress, health and safety and compliance.
The engineer will be required to establish working relationships with Senior Engineers, Project teams, Procurement / Logistics, Sub-contractors, Suppliers and Customers.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Fluids Engineer shall:
- Produce, monitor and/or check that technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; block diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, Bill of Materials, calculations, manuals etc. to meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations / National Standards.
- Contribute to and create 3D models of pipework systems utilising the various 3D piping design packages available.
- Work with the Project team as the technical focus for Fluids aspects of all projects to ensure a successful and commercially viable contract execution. This would include monitoring progress and change management.
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with other departments, design partners and other company offices, ensuring that design work meets with their needs and seek ideas on particular solutions.
- Comply with the company operating procedures and statutory obligations. Participate in project Design & Safety Reviews, Risk Assessments etc.
- Ensure that the design and manufacture of equipment is carried out to the required standards, within budget and to agreed timescales
- Provide technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, tested, installed and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements
- Participate in equipment inspection, testing and commissioning activities at manufacturer and customer sites.
- Support the proposals team by producing technical specifications & scopes of supply for the fluid systems. This includes costing of equipment for the proposal bids.
- Develop , maintain and cultivate relationships with Clients, Suppliers, Sub Contractors to ensure successful execution of the project, future business.
Essential:
- The Fluids engineer should have a good understanding of the requirements of heavy industry turn key projects.
- Candidates should possess a formal qualification in Fluids Engineering and have evidence of at least 2 years experience in an industrial Fluids engineering role.
- Fluids basic and detailed design skills, able to work alone or in groups to produce innovative, robust designs, built with both manufacture and operation in mind and suited to the harsh environment they will operate in.
- Design calculation ability, usually with Microsoft Excel required.
- IT literate with all department and business system tools, especially AutoCad
- Working knowledge of environmental, health & safety and technical regulations.
- Advanced 3D CAD skills (Preferably Autodesk Inventor, CADWorx, Siemens NX).
- Problem solving and analytical thinking advantageous.
- Experience in heavy industry, preferably in Fluids Design Engineering role.
- Experience of project engineering and the project lifecycle from contract award through to installation/commissioning from a specific disciplined engineering view.
- Experience of iron & steel industry advantageous.
- Membership of the relevant professional institution would be preferred.
