The Senior Energy, Emissions, and Performance Manager is a strategic leader responsible for driving energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and performance optimization across the organization's operations.
The role ensures that energy management practices deliver cost and performance benefits while aligning with the company's sustainability commitments and regulatory requirements.
Acting as a key link between corporate sustainability strategy and operational execution, the position provides both strategic direction and hands-on leadership to a multidisciplinary team of regional leads, analysts, and technical specialists. The role is accountable for initiatives that improve energy utilization, reduce carbon intensity, and enhance overall operational performance.
A core focus is on using digitalization, analytics, and process simplification to strengthen transparency, data quality, and decision-making. The Senior Manager champions the adoption of emissions monitoring systems, performance dashboards, and predictive tools that enable data-driven strategies and measurable improvements. The role also provides strategic oversight to the Fleet Energy Manager and Vessel Performance leads, ensuring delivery of energy efficiency measures, hull optimization programs, and technical performance improvements.
Collaboration is central to this position. The manager works closely with technical, commercial, operational, and digital teams to ensure integrated delivery of business objectives while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role supports talent development, succession planning, and capability building to ensure the function remains agile and future-ready.

Key Accountabilities:
- Define and implement the Energy, Emissions, and Performance strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
- Translate high-level decarbonization and performance objectives into actionable plans for Emissions Optimization, Digital & Data, Fleet Energy, and Vessel Performance
- Continuously review strategies in response to IMO regulations, ETS/FEU schemes, and emerging digital technologies, ensuring agility and compliance.
- Oversee integrated performance management across fleet energy efficiency, hull condition, and vessel performance analytics, ensuring optimal fuel consumption and cost control.
- Drive post-navigational assessments to capture learnings, improve voyage planning, and enhance predictive performance models.
- Establish and monitor critical metrics for energy intensity, emissions compliance, and digital data quality, benchmarking against industry.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging advanced analytics and digital platforms to optimize operational workflows.
- Partner with the Emissions Optimization Lead to deliver compliance with EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, and IMO decarbonization targets.
- Integrate emissions data into voyage planning, performance dashboards, and decision-making tools, ensuring proactive compliance and cost mitigation.
- Collaborate with the Digital and Data Management Lead to ensure robust data governance, system integration, and analytics capability across performance and emissions domains.
- Collaborate with the Naval Architects and oversee hull condition monitoring and optimization initiatives, ensuring proactive maintenance strategies that minimize drag and fuel penalties.
- Build and mentor a multidisciplinary team of specialists, fostering collaboration between emissions, digital, energy, and performance functions.
- Deliver comprehensive performance and compliance reports to senior leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
- Provide data and evidence to manage/ support performance claims with owners and third-party operators.
Essential Experience:
- Experience as shipboard marine engineer and/or naval architecture with a focus on energy efficiency & sustainability.
- Recent experience leading multidisciplinary activities across emissions compliance, digital/data management, fleet energy optimization, and vessel performance, with a track record of delivering efficiency, sustainability, and regulatory compliance at scale.
- Strong ability to translate decarbonization and performance strategies into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, and corporate sustainability goals.
- Recent hands-on experience in emissions monitoring, reporting, and optimization, including integration of CII/EEXI compliance frameworks, carbon intensity reduction initiatives, and fuel efficiency programs.
- Proven capability in digital transformation, including deployment of performance dashboards, emissions tracking systems, and predictive analytics to enhance transparency and decision-making.
- Expertise in hull condition optimization, propulsion efficiency, and voyage performance analytics, ensuring measurable improvements in fuel consumption and carbon footprint.
- Demonstrated success in leading change initiatives, piloting new technologies (e.g., Storm Geo, Zero North, AI-based optimization), and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience:
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to collaborate across emissions, digital, technical, and commercial teams, as well as with regulatory bodies, classification societies, and external technology partners.
- Solid understanding of global maritime compliance frameworks (IMO, MEPC, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime) and experience embedding risk management and governance practices into energy and emissions programs.
- Familiarity with vessel performance technologies, hull condition monitoring systems, emissions tracking platforms, and digital optimization tools
