Domestic Gas Engineer — Housing Department (London)

Hours:
• Summer (Apr–Sep): 08:00–17:00
• Winter (Oct–Mar): 08:00–18:00
• 1-hour unpaid lunch
Overtime & Call-Out Rota:
Overtime and call-outs are subject to a rota. Participation is shared fairly among team
members and agreed in advance.
Holidays: 28 days including bank holidays

The Role
Join a Housing Department supporting council and social housing contracts across
London. The role involves delivering boiler breakdowns and repairs, part replacement,
CP12 landlord gas safety checks, fault-finding, and associated plumbing works across
both occupied and void properties.
You will work to contractual KPIs, including attendance, first-time fix rates, and
compliance, while delivering a safe, professional, and respectful service to residents
particularly vulnerable tenants.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and repair domestic boilers and heating systems with a strong first
• Complete CP12 gas safety certificates and all compliance documentation
accurately
• Fit and replace components including pumps, fans, sensors, PCBs, PRVs, AAVs,
and TRVs
• Carry out power flushing and system water quality checks
• Install and replace 2-port and 3-port motorised valves, including wiring centre
works
• Undertake general plumbing works such as cylinders (vented and unvented),
radiators, pipework, condensate and filling loops, and leak repairs
• Use a mobile job management system to update job notes, photos, and
certification in real time
• Participate in the on-call rota, shared fairly and planned in advance
 
What You’ll Bring
• Gas Safe registered with in-date ACS qualifications: CCN1 and CENWAT (HTR1,
CKR1, MET1 as applicable)
• Proven experience in fault-finding and diagnostics on common domestic boilers
and control systems
• G3 Unvented certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong customer communication skills with a professional and tidy approach to
workmanship and documentation
• Desirable: basic electrical testing or boiler wiring competence; manufacturer
training (e.g. Vaillant, Worcester, Baxi, Ideal)
• Willingness to undergo DBS checks where site safeguarding requires
• Own tools, flue gas analyser, and valid calibration certificate
