We operate a 40 hour working week designed to support work-life balance. We offer flexible start and finish times between 8am and 6pm, provided that core hours of 10am to 4pm are covered for team collaboration and meetings.
About The Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer (HKLS) plays a critical role within the MEP design team, leading the mechanical services design of complex building projects across multiple sectors. The position exists to ensure high quality, compliant HKLS designs are delivered in line with HOAI phases, DIN/VDI/VdS standards, and client requirements.
This role provides technical leadership, supports project delivery from concept through site supervision, and helps build the foundation for future workloads by mentoring junior engineers and collaborating closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

About The Role

This role provides technical leadership, supports project delivery from concept through site supervision, and helps build the foundation for future workloads by mentoring junior engineers and collaborating closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
What you will do
- Lead and deliver HKLS mechanical designs across all project phases, ensuring technical quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Manage multiple projects from concept through construction and handover, including design coordination and site supervision.
- Develop, review, and approve mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings in line with HOAI phases and DIN/VDI/VdS standards.
- Design and coordinate heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and fire suppression systems (where applicable) for new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Mentor and support junior engineers while coordinating workloads and priorities.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and internal MEP teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, identifying and mitigating technical risks.
- Report to the Line Manager and support the development of internal standards, workflows, and future project structures.
Your Experience
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline, with formal experience as an MEP / HKLS Design Engineer.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical building services design, including at least 4 years within Germany or the wider DACH region.
- Proven capability delivering HKLS designs from concept through construction and site supervision.
- Strong technical expertise in HKLS systems and a solid working knowledge of HOAI phases and DIN/VDI/VdS regulations.
- Experience preparing and reviewing calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
- Professional German language skills (C1 minimum) and good working proficiency in English (B2 minimum).
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach and a strong commitment to quality and compliance.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent), or working toward professional accreditation.
- Additional training in sustainable, low-carbon, fire suppression, or advanced plumbing systems.
- Experience delivering HKLS projects across residential, hospitality, logistics/warehouse, and office sectors, including refurbishments and international work.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and lead mechanical design packages.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit within multidisciplinary BIM environments.
- Capability to support the development of internal standards, workflows, and future project structures.
