Role Overview

An experienced Electrical Engineer is required to support a portfolio of modification and capital projects within a large industrial or energy environment. The role covers study, design, and execution phases, acting as a technical focal point for electrical engineering activities and coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.

Job Scope

• Develop conceptual designs and detailed electrical engineering solutions
• Plan, monitor, and coordinate assigned modifications and projects with the project team
• Act as a discipline focal point for in-house and subcontracted engineering activities
• Review engineering studies and deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and contractual obligations

Project Management and Coordination

• Coordinate electrical engineering reviews and approvals of designs and interfaces in line with project requirements
• Review and approve technical documents and engineering deliverables
• Assess bidder technical proposals including layouts, electrical schemes, single line diagrams, and data sheets
• Ensure electrical engineering activities are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget
• Provide engineering support to construction activities and ensure timely issue of construction details
• Review and approve as-built documentation for completed modifications and projects

Design and Engineering

• Perform site surveys and data collection for existing and new facilities
• Carry out electrical engineering studies including load studies, voltage drop, cable sizing, load flow, motor starting, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination
• Execute hazardous area classification studies for gas and dust environments
• Perform lighting and illumination calculations, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and heat tracing studies
• Develop detailed design deliverables such as single line diagrams, layouts, power circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, and cable routing drawings
• Size and select electrical equipment in accordance with applicable standards
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment, materials, and subcontract scopes
• Prepare material take-offs and bills of quantities
• Issue material requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

• Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, security, environmental, and quality management procedures
• Support HSSE activities and documentation updates
• Participate in project risk assessments and safety reviews including HAZOP

Reporting

• Provide regular progress updates on assigned projects
• Prepare technical and project reports as required

Communication and Interfaces

• Liaise internally with project teams, operations, procurement, and other engineering disciplines
• Interface externally with contractors, vendors, suppliers, consultants, and service providers

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design and engineering within oil and gas or petrochemical industries
• Broad exposure to multiple electrical engineering disciplines and project phases

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical design and engineering principles
• Experience with industrial automation and electrical equipment packages
• Familiarity with electrical network studies and transient analysis
• Experience with lighting and illumination studies
• Knowledge of gas and dust hazardous area classifications
• Understanding of international electrical codes and standards
