We have a current opportunity for a Occupational Health and Safety Advisor. The position will be based in Den Haag or Den Helder. For further information about this position please apply.

Provide competent health and safety support, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and the Integrated Management System.
Work collaboratively with the HSEQ team, offshore personnel, and other departments to enhance occupational safety and health standards.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist Health and Safety advice to management and the workforce, focusing on occupational hygiene and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and the HSEQ management system.
  • Lead and support the accurate reporting, investigation, and corrective action identification for accidents and near misses, participating in investigations as required.
  • Manage the HSE reporting platform, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for stakeholders.
  • Serve as the focal point for Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E), ensuring regulatory compliance through effective coordination of assessments, action tracking, closeouts, and integration with the health surveillance plan.
  • Maintain and update the hazardous material register, manage safety requirements, and calculate exposure limits.
  • Provide expert guidance on the selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while promoting safer alternatives for hazardous materials.
  • Foster innovative problem-solving approaches and encourage creativity within the team to address safety challenges effectively.
  • Design and execute safety campaigns to enhance awareness and compliance across the organization.
  • Lead health promotion initiatives and activities to improve workforce well-being.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure consistent adherence to safety standards and procedures.
  • Interface with Operations, Project and Drilling and Wells Teams along with the wider organisation as required.
  • Interface with HSEQ colleagues.
 
Qualifications / Experience
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Strong understanding of Dutch occupational health and safety regulations (Arbo law).
  • Certification as Safety Engineer Level 3 (HVK or equivalent) preferred, or Level 2 (MVK or equivalent) with relevant experience.
  • Occupational Health and Safety specialist (Arbeidshygienist (AH) desirable).
  • Experienced user of Stoffenmanager, preferably.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas production operations, preferably.
  • Incident investigation qualification (e.g., Topset, COMET, Tripod) and experience in conducting investigations.
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation, hazardous materials management, systems, and hazards.
  • Skilled in analysis, simplification, and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrable experience in an HSE role, ideally in industrial, offshore, or drilling environments.
  • Strong skills in teamwork, communication, and coaching.
