This is an opportunity to work for one of the world's leaders in renewable energy, based at their Necton substation in Norfolk.
The right candidate will be a seasoned Lead M&E Commissioning Engineer with experience on HVDC substations ideally for offshore wind projects.
All inclusive daily rate £700 a day, outside IR35.

This is an exciting role which is involved with the energisation of two major projects, both delivering 1.4GW and based on HVDC plus technology. The expected energisation of the HVDC system is in 2027, so this role will be involved at the early stages of the build.

Brief Description
This is an exciting role which is involved with the energisation of two major projects, both delivering 1.4GW and based on HVDC plus technology. The expected energisation of the HVDC system is in 2027, so this role will be involved at the early stages of the build.
The major responsibilities are:
- Lead and monitor contractor commissioning activities at Necton ONS sites and OSS (yard and offshore works).
- Ensure accurate "As Built" drawings and commissioning records are maintained.
- Provide remote technical support to Dubai and offshore teams.
- Act as the technical interface for HVDC ONS build and commissioning (60-70% focus) while tracking OSS progress (30-40%).
- Attend SATs, manage ITPs, and coordinate completion of commissioning files.
- Respond to technical queries and verify readiness for commissioning.
- Deliver training for new starters (e.g., O&M team).
- Represent commissioning team in onshore coordination and SIMOP meetings; liaise with RWE and contractor technical teams.
- Investigate and report faults during commissioning.
- Act as client witness for commissioning works and support package manager in ensuring procedures are in place.
Qualifications
- Electrical system testing and commissioning
- Pump and Motor Commissioning and operation
- Cooling systems commissioning and operation
- Instrumentation and control calibrations and commissioning
- Information Security systems
- Building services commissioning - HVAC etc.
- IOSH/NEBOSH Certification
