EngineeringNES Fircroft are currently recruiting a Senior Weight Control Engineer on behalf of our client. They are a leader in floating technologies for the oil and gas industry, and the office is in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
12-month contract with strong possibility of extension. Monday to Friday. Hybrid working, 3 days in the office and 2 days remote per week.
Role description
As a Senior Weight Control Engineer, you are expected to provide relevant technical expertise in the areas of weight management, weight estimation and weight control. This includes interfacing with internal engineering disciplines, Supply Chain, Construction, Transportation, and Installation as well as external EPC subcontractors & the Client.
In addition to execution-phase responsibilities, the role also covers Proposal and Pre‑FEED stages, where conceptual definition, early estimation accuracy, and competitive benchmarking are crucial.

Our client is looking for candidates who have a BSc. or MSc. within any relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Piping, Structural, Naval Architecture). You have at least 5 years of Engineering experience, ideally within weight control, as well as international experience in multi-disciplinary projects. The candidate shall have an understanding of ISO 19901-5:2021.

Role description
As a Senior Weight Control Engineer, you are expected to provide relevant technical expertise in the areas of weight management, weight estimation and weight control. The Weight Control engineer shall:
- Report to, and provide support to the Engineering Project Manager
- Act as the single point of contact for Weight Estimation and Weight Control within the project
- Be responsible for the preparation of Weight Control Reports in line with project standard
- Be responsible to define Not‑to‑Exceed (NTE) weight philosophy for Proposal/Pre‑FEED modules and ensure alignment with engineering assumptions and defining COG envelope for each module (Weight Budget), considering the limitations on module lifting capacity, vessel stability and structural capacity.
- Be responsible for collecting the weight data and COG from all the disciplines, checking to ensure all items are identified and reported including the future requirements, review the weight and COG data received from disciplines, creating, maintaining and updating the weight and COG database and issuing weight reports throughout the project duration.
- Be responsible for verifying and validating the weight input and COG data received from disciplines and highlight any anomalies in the weight and COG or for any missing items, to the respective Discipline Lead Engineers.
- Be responsible to monitor the weight data of engineering disciplines and alert the management and disciplines if there are any significant change in weight or COG.
- Be responsible to review the weight data and weight reports received from vendors and sub-contractors for its compliance with procedure, specifications and project requirements.
- Be responsible to create awareness among engineering disciplines, about the impact of growth in topsides weight, contractual obligations on weight limits for topsides modules, initiate weight reduction programs, suggest ways for reducing topsides modules weight and balancing COG offsets.
- The Weight Control Engineer establishes weight maturity curves and defines appropriate weight growth allowances during Proposal and Pre‑FEED.
- Be responsible to supports client clarifications during Proposal and Pre‑FEED by explaining weight methodologies, benchmarking approaches, and technical assumptions.

- Broad knowledge of different offshore systems
- Willingness to travel (the position is based in Rotterdam, Netherlands but travel to other locations may be required)
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbally.
