EngineeringWe are seeking an experienced Senior Process Automation Engineer /Systems Programmer for a long term full time contract role with cross border travel to be part of and contributing to significant project sites. This role is responsible for executing complex process automation and control systems projects across autonomous and advanced control environments. The focus is on hands-on delivery of automation solutions that support safe, efficient, and reliable operations across mining, onshore, and offshore facilities.
This position requires a senior automation professional with mandatory Honeywell and Rockwell experience who can contribute across the full project lifecycle — from early concept and detailed engineering through construction support, commissioning, and handover.

This position requires a senior automation professional with mandatory Honeywell and Rockwell experience who can contribute across the full project lifecycle — from early concept and detailed engineering through construction support, commissioning, and handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute automation engineering work across all project phases, including concept, FEED, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and validation.
- Program and configure Honeywell DCS and Rockwell PLC platforms, providing hands-on technical execution.
- Coordinate and interface with engineering partners, contractors, OEMs, system integrators, and project management teams.
- Produce complete process automation deliverables, including:
- Control narratives and cause & effect diagrams
- Boolean logic diagrams
- DCS / SIS / PLC functional specifications
- System cabinet layouts, wiring diagrams, and I/O loading
- Instrument datasheets, instrument index, and system architecture documentation
- Support testing, site execution, and commissioning of complex, multi-vendor automation systems.
- Take ownership of technical quality, schedule adherence, and overall delivery success.
- Communicate technical information clearly through concise documentation and stakeholder discussions.
- Travel to site locations as required to support field execution and commissioning activities.
- 11–15 years of experience in process automation, control systems engineering, or system programming.
- A post secondary Degree is required.
- Honeywell DCS (Required):
- Hands-on configuration experience, including C300 controllers
- Point configuration and development of complex control loops and logic
- Rockwell Automation (Required):
- Programming and configuration of ControlLogix PLC platforms
- Demonstrated ability to deliver full automation packages — not programming-only roles.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to ~50% depending on project phase to the US.
- Currently able to work/live in the Calgary, AB area for 80hr/9 days and/or with travel (some hybrid may be offered, TBD)
- Current and valid driver's licence
- Willing and able to work in Canada and the US.
- Other passport/visa/work travel documents will be required.
- Exposure to other DCS platforms such as Yokogawa or Emerson
- Experience working in multi-vendor, multi-discipline project environments
- Background suitable for either a senior technical lead or a highly experienced hands-on engineer
