EngineeringFor a large-scale technical construction project, we are seeking a Site EHS Manager to lead and coordinate all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) activities during the execution phase. You will act as the primary EHS point of contact on site and work closely with project leadership, site teams, and external contractors to ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible working environment.
This role plays a key part in embedding a strong safety culture and ensuring that EHS standards are consistently applied across all site activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable EHS legislation, internal standards, and project-specific requirements
- Develop, maintain, and oversee the Site EHS Plan throughout the project lifecycle
- Advise project management on EHS risks, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, and drive corrective actions
- Coordinate and monitor EHS implementation across contractors and subcontractors on site
- Verify qualifications, certifications, and competencies of all site personnel and subcontractors
- Organise and facilitate safety meetings, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Lead or support incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up actions
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including inspections, audits, training records, and reports
- Oversee environmental management activities such as waste handling, hazardous materials, emissions, and resource use
- Ensure emergency preparedness through regular reviews of emergency plans and execution of drills
- Monitor EHS performance indicators and provide structured reporting to project leadership
- Coach and support site teams in improving EHS awareness, behaviour, and performance
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an EHS role within construction or large project environments
- Strong knowledge of EHS legislation and safety management systems
- Experience working with contractors and subcontractors on site
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Good command of the English language (additional languages are an advantage)
- Proficient in standard office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A key role within a complex and challenging project environment in Rotterdam
- High level of responsibility and autonomy
