This role is a full-time office-based role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.

Role:

The Site Engineer (E&I) is responsible for supervising and supporting the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems at site. The role ensures construction works are carried out safely, according to engineering drawings, project specifications, and industry standards, while coordinating daily progress with contractors and other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise installation of electrical equipment: LV/MV switchgear, transformers, motors, MCCs, UPS systems, lighting, and grounding.
  • Oversee cable pulling, glanding, termination, tray installation, junction boxes, and electrical panels.
  • Supervise instrumentation works: transmitters, analyzers, detectors, control valves, panels, and instrument tubing.
  • Review and interpret design documents: SLDs, loop drawings, cable schedules, hook up drawings.
  • Support testing activities including:
  • Continuity, megger, and hipot tests
  • Loop checks (cold & hot)
  • Functional tests for instruments and equipment
  • Calibration of field instruments
  • Assist commissioning teams in system energization, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct inspections with QA/QC as per ITPs and project standards.
  • Verify installation against drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, API, ISA, NEC/NFPA standards.
  • Maintain redline/as built drawings, test reports, and inspection records.
  • Coordinate daily activities with supervisors, subcontractors, and other disciplines (mechanical, piping, civil).
  • Verify availability of materials, manpower, and tools for daily work execution.
  • Support material tracking for cables, consumables, instruments, and electrical fittings.
  • Ensure safe practices in electrical and instrumentation works, including LOTO, PTW, and hazardous area compliance.
  • Enforce safety during energization, working at heights, confined spaces, and lifting.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments with work teams.
  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports: manpower, materials, completed work, and technical issues.
  • Identify work delays, constraints, and propose solutions.
  • Assist planners in updating schedules and work sequences.


QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
  • Diploma candidates with strong E&I field experience may be considered.

Professional Experience
  • 8-10+ years' experience in E&I construction on oil & gas or industrial EPC projects.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical installation, instrumentation hook-ups, and testing.
  • Middle East or Iraq project experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area equipment (ATEX, Ex-proof).

Strong understanding of:
  • SLDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams
  • Cable schedules, block diagrams, hookup drawings
  • MV/LV systems, PLC/SCADA/DCS interfaces
  • Instrument calibration and troubleshooting
  • Familiar with standards: IEC, NEC/NFPA 70, ISA, API.
  • Proficient in MS Office and PDF markup tools.
