Job Summary
KBR is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team at our office in Las Cruces, NM for the Summer 2026, June thru August. The selected candidate may support multiple projects from a mechanical engineering standpoint in an RF communications industry. This internship will provide experience working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment amongst professionals within an engineering and manufacturing facility. Under the supervision and mentorship of a senior engineer, this intern will be introduced but not limited to processes, procedures, and tools to efficiently perform analysis on stress, strain, thermal management, hardware integration, component selection, and engineering documentation.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Assist in research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles
• Validate vendor equipment performance and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results
• Support senior engineers with final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis
• Research and identify mechanical parts, components, and materials
• Manage data, including test results, Bills-of-Material, quotations, drawings, technical data sheets, etc.
• Perform hardware assembly and equipment installations
• May perform site surveys and field installations with project teams
• Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
• Support engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results
• Abide by company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks
• Must hold a valid driver's license and have the ability to obtain a US DOD security clearance
Basic Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. citizen with valid documentation
• Must be currently enrolled at an ABET accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
• Basic experience using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week during the internship program
