We are seeking an experienced Procedures Editor to support the development and maintenance of Operations Group procedures, standing instructions, and assessment packages for our major Oil and Gas client in Qatar. The role focuses on ensuring technical documentation is clear, concise, consistent, and aligned with company competency assurance, safety, and quality standards, enabling end users at all levels to work safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and review operations, maintenance, and assessment documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company editorial and competency assurance standards.
- Ensure all documentation complies with established company policies, oil and gas industry best practices, international standards, and ISO 9000 & 14000 requirements.
- Proofread documentation for grammar, punctuation, spelling, readability, and style.
- Recommend improvements to vocabulary, phrasing, syntax, structure, and layout to enhance clarity and usability.
- Verify technical content, facts, dates, statistics, and source material in collaboration with Technical Writers.
- Support the development and maintenance of standardized documentation formats and layouts for intranet and document management systems.
- Participate in identifying operational areas requiring technical changes and assess the impact on existing documentation.
- Support the implementation of documentation updates and ensure relevant stakeholders receive appropriate information or training.
- Mentor and support Technical Writers, including the development of writing guides and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English Literature, Journalism, or Science.
- Prior experience writing and editing oil and gas operations procedures.
- Prior work as a Technical Author or in a similar role.
- Proven ability to work independently, anticipate changes, and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS SharePoint.
- Familiarity with electronic publishing, graphics, web design, and multimedia content.
- Advanced organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
