This position reports to:
Service Team Leader

Region: The Netherlands, Dutch-speaking Belgium, and partly Germany
L&W (Lorentzen & Wettre) develops and supplies laboratory testing and measuring equipment for the paper industry-ranging from specialty paper to board and packaging. These high‑precision instruments are used worldwide to determine the quality of paper and board through standardized measurements, including strength properties and surface characteristics. You will mainly work in clean, well‑conditioned laboratory environments, where precision and cleanliness are essential.
To strengthen our service team, we are looking for a Field Service Technician with a passion for technology, measurement & calibration, and customer interaction. In this role, you will work primarily in customer laboratories, where you can count on a calm, safe, and structured work environment. Do you enjoy variety, independence, and high‑quality technology? Then we would love to meet you!
Your Responsibilities
In this diverse and hands‑on role, you will work mainly on-site at customer locations, with occasional remote support. You are the technical face of L&W:

Your Responsibilities
In this diverse and hands‑on role, you will work mainly on-site at customer locations, with occasional remote support. You are the technical face of L&W:
- Performing calibrations and maintenance on our measuring instruments (customer- and product-specific), including documentation of calibration results.
- Installing, commissioning, and functionally testing L&W laboratory testing equipment at customer sites.
- Carrying out repairs and troubleshooting-both on-site and remotely via phone/Teams.
- Preparing accurate service documentation (service reports, measurement logs, spare-part history).
- Training users: instruction on operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Providing technical feedback to product management and R&D (error patterns, improvement opportunities).
- Supporting sales and internal stakeholders with technical inquiries (applications, feasibility, spare parts, modifications).
- Planning and coordinating your own travel and service visits within the Netherlands, Belgium, and partly Germany-with plenty of freedom to organize your days efficiently.
Your Profile
We are looking for a technically skilled professional who enjoys working independently, documents carefully, and gains energy from helping customers.
You ideally bring:
- A completed technical education at MBO or HBO level (e.g., mechatronics, electrical engineering, electronics, industrial automation, or mechanical engineering with affinity for measuring/testing equipment).
- Experience in field service with complex devices or machines (experience with lab, measurement, or testing equipment is an advantage).
- Interest or experience in calibrations and measurement/testing procedures, and a precise way of working.
- The ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical documentation.
- A systematic, hands‑on troubleshooting approach and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Excellent command of Dutch and sufficient English for technical communication (German is an advantage, but not required).
- Willingness to travel within the Netherlands, Belgium, and partly Germany (multi‑day trips may occur), and possession of a Category B driving licence.
- Experience with laptops/service tools and structured digital documentation.
- A high level of independence and the ability to manage your own time and planning efficiently.
