Job Overview:

The Senior Principal Engineer - Welding R&D requires hands on experience on R&D and innovation in welding and joining technologies, welding equipment and tooling development, metallurgy, material behavior, and defect prevention, & testing & validation.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Lead R&D and innovation in welding and joining technologies, from concept to industrial deployment.
• Develop, optimize, procedures, and parameters for new materials and applications.
• Drive welding equipment and tooling development, including specification, design input, prototyping, testing, and integration of advanced systems (automation, robotics, power supplies, sensors).
• Provide expert knowledge in weld metallurgy, material behavior, and defect prevention.
• Define and supervise testing, validation, and qualification activities in compliance with relevant standards.
• Support industrialization and technology transfer to manufacturing, including troubleshooting complex issues.
• Lead or contribute to technical projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with external partners.
• Ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, while contributing to cost, performance, and sustainability objectives.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Engineering Degree
• Minimum 15 Years of Experience in R&D and innovation in welding and joining technologies
• Ability to lead the team
• Willing to relocate to Jebel Ali
• Organized and Detailed Oriented
• Proficient is activities such as: R&D, automatic GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), automatic GTAW (Gast Tungsten Arc Welding), pipeline welding, welding automatization, Offshore pipelay installation (S-lay & J-lay), welding pipeline equipment
