Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for production equipment.
- Work with high- and low-voltage systems, transformers, MCCs, and power distribution panels.
- Maintain lighting, emergency power, and plant utility systems.
- Diagnose electrical failures in motors, drives, PLC I/O, sensors, and control circuits.
- Troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, contactors, relays, and motor starters.
- Respond to production breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Assist with PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams.
- Replace and calibrate photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, limit switches.
- Support upgrades or modifications to automation systems.
- Perform scheduled inspections on motors, panels, and wiring.
- Check for overheating, vibration, insulation breakdown, and loose connections.
- Support predictive maintenance tools (thermal imaging, megger testing).
- Follow and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ensure work complies with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and local electrical codes.
- Maintain proper grounding, bonding, and arc-flash protection.
- Participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
- Install new machinery, power drops, control panels, and instrumentation.
- Modify electrical systems to support process improvements or capacity increases.
- Coordinate with mechanical, controls, and engineering teams during installations.
- Update electrical drawings and maintenance records.
- Document repairs, root causes, and corrective actions.
- Communicate equipment issues and recommendations to supervisors and engineers.
- Work closely with maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Support shift operations (often including nights, weekends, or on-call work).
- Train operators or junior technicians on basic electrical safety and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Minimum of four years of industrial electrician experience.
- Strong understanding of 3-phase power systems.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial controls
- Pneumatic and hydraulic experience
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around moving equipment, high-energy systems and confined spaces with exposure to heat, noise, oils, lubricants, metal dust.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, twist, and reach.
- Ability to pass a physical, drug test and background check.
