Job Title: Mechanical Construction Lead

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Construction Lead to join a major oil and gas project in Qatar. This role will oversee the execution of mechanical works for large-scale compression and rotating equipment within an onshore production facility. The successful candidate will ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency while managing contractor and subcontractor teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with significant construction and mechanical project experience to take a leading role in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage mechanical contractors to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of mechanical scopes.

• Supervise and coordinate activities related to fabrication, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of large rotating gas compressors, turbine-driven packages, and associated mechanical systems.

• Ensure design constructability and compliance with engineering drawings, technical requirements, and industry standards.

• Review documentation to deliver consistent records for construction activities, including materials, procured and fabricated items, and as-built information.

• Monitor project progress, identify risks or quality issues, and recommend corrective actions where required.

• Maintain strong interfaces and alignment between company teams and contractors.

• Participate in risk assessments, technical meetings, kick-off meetings, and lessons learned sessions.

• Ensure adherence to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and standards.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in construction, installation, or fabrication within the oil and gas industry, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including large rotating equipment, turbine packages, and HVAC systems for industrial facilities.

• Familiarity with project execution procedures, welding, lifting, mechanical testing, and completion techniques.

• Experience managing contractors and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.

Desirable:

• Experience in large-scale onshore facilities, fabrication yards, or industrial construction projects.

• Knowledge of international codes, standards, and safety criteria applicable to mechanical construction.

• Familiarity with brownfield projects, hook-up, or offshore/offshore-equivalent operations.
