Role Synopsis

bp is transforming into a digital-first energy company-and we're looking for Application Support Analyst to help power that change. This role will sit in the GPTA Technology Retail team under the Trading and Shipping (T&S) product group, supporting the Gas and Power Trading Americas (GPTA) product line. This team is responsible for supporting the Retail C&I (Commercial & Industrial) business. This is a hands-on role combining application support, cloud, and DevOps practices-ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and improving live systems at scale.

You'll join a high-performing, cross-functional team supporting bp's Gas & Power Trading Americas platform, ensuring systems are stable, scalable, and continuously improving.

What You'll Do

• Ensure "silent running" BAU service delivery for applications and systems which support Retail trading activities from front to back office.
• Resolve complex production issues across systems and integrations.
• Monitor systems using tools like Splunk/CloudWatch and proactively improve reliability.
• Support deployments, upgrades, and continuous improvements across platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions.
• Automate operational tasks and improve processes using DevOps practices.
• Create runbooks, documentation, and operational standards.
• Participate in incident management, DR/BCP planning, and system resilience activities.

What We're Looking For

• Experience supporting enterprise applications (e.g. SAP, Salesforce, ETRM platforms).
• Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, or Postgres).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and monitoring tools (Splunk, CloudWatch).
• Solid understanding of incident, problem, and change management (ServiceNow or similar).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in fast-paced production environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and business teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in trading or energy markets (especially power/gas).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Azure DevOps).
• Programming experience (Python, Java, C#, etc.).
• CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Knowledge of SRE or ITIL practices.
• Interest or experience in AI/LLMs.
