Job Purpose

Mechanical & Piping Engineer - PMC (Oil & Gas | Egypt)

Job Purpose
The Mechanical & Piping Engineer - PMC is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and ensuring the successful execution of all mechanical and piping works in oil & gas projects. The role ensures compliance with approved engineering documents, international codes, quality standards, and HSE requirements while supporting the PMC team in delivering safe and high-quality oil & gas facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate mechanical and piping construction activities including static & rotating equipment, piping systems, and packaged units.
- Review and ensure compliance with IFC drawings, P&IDs, piping isometrics, datasheets, method statements, and ITPs.
- Monitor piping fabrication, erection, welding, NDT, and testing activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Review and verify WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, and piping material specifications.
- Oversee installation of static equipment (pressure vessels, tanks, exchangers) and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines).
- Coordinate pressure testing (hydro & pneumatic), flushing, blowing, chemical cleaning, and drying activities.
- Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities related to mechanical and piping systems.
- Review contractor method statements, work procedures, and technical submissions.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, PTW systems, and safe work practices at site.
- Identify technical issues, raise site observations/NCRs, and support resolution and close-out.
- Coordinate with PMC discipline engineers, QA/QC, planning, and HSE teams.
- Support mechanical completion, system handover, punch listing, and final acceptance.
- Prepare and review progress reports, inspection records, and handover documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10-18 years of experience in mechanical and piping engineering for oil & gas plant projects.
- Proven experience working with PMC / EPC / Engineering Consultancy organizations.
- Strong exposure to onshore oil & gas facilities, refineries, gas processing, or petrochemical plants.
- Hands-on experience with piping, welding, NDT, pressure testing, and equipment installation.
- Thorough knowledge of international standards and codes: ASME (B31.3, Sec VIII & IX), API, ANSI, ASTM, ISO.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or equivalent.
- NDT Level II (RT / UT / MT / PT).
- HSE certifications (NEBOSH / IOSH).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, GA drawings, equipment datasheets, and stress notes.
- Excellent knowledge of oil & gas mechanical and piping systems.
- Strong coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office and engineering documentation systems.
