Contribute to the next generation of offshore wind turbines

Enabling our clients to install the current and next generation offshore wind turbines as a Mechanical Engineer you are responsible for complex engineering equipment packages for our heavy lift cranes, jacking systems and other equipment that we design and supply. We are looking for a:

Mechanical Engineer

You will contribute to the cutting-edge NOV design cranes, jacking systems and other equipment in the GustoMSC/NOV portfolio in order to remain the market leading company that we are today. You are confident about your abilities in engineering and decision making and open to suggestions and arguments of others to reassess your own. You can and want to contribute technically to projects and are eager to share your knowledge and experience with colleagues. In this role you will make concept and basic designs of new equipment, have responsibility for execute mechanical equipment packages such as pinions, sheaves, slewing bearings, shafts, etc. during fabrication, installation and delivery of the complete system.

Primary responsibilities:

Based in our Schiedam office, you will be reporting to the Team Lead of the mechanical discipline team and / or towards the Lead Engineer of the project.

  • Design and verification of advanced and complex mechanical equipment, competitive in the offshore market and in compliance with applicable class, industry & internal standards.
  • Take an advisory and contributing role in large engineering scopes within projects like performing calculations for mechanical equipment, preparing specifications, convincing clients and class with respect to mechanical calculations, etc.
  • Contribute to, review and approval of engineering project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal work methods and standardization.
  • Package engineering, being technical responsible for equipment packages such as pinions, slewing bearings, winches, etc. From design, technical evaluation of quotations from suppliers, supervision during manufacturing, support during installation and commissioning.
  • Travel and visits to fabricators, vendors, and construction sites can be required.


Qualifications:

  • Msc or Bsc degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Technology, Offshore & Dredging Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Relevant work experience of minimum 5 years in design of mechanical equipment. Experience offshore is a pre but not strictly required.
  • Ability to plan, see required sequence of work, distinguish main and side issues and capable of doing proper analytical calculations and designs such as drive trains, gears, gearboxes, etc.
  • Experience in working with NX or another equivalent 3D design package is a pre but not strictly required.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • The ideal candidate exhibits a proactive, analytical, and positive attitude, as well as outstanding collaboration skills.
