The Role
To contribute to the NSG Site Construction Operations function by ensuring the successful delivery of projects in full alignment with established safety, quality, environmental, and security standards, as well as contractual requirements.
This role is fully site-based and forms an integral part of a multidisciplinary construction team. Acting as a vital link between off-site engineering and on-site execution, you will bring proven experience and appropriate qualifications within your discipline.
Success in this position requires a practical, solutions focused mindset, combined with a methodical and organised approach. You should be confident in your technical knowledge and capable of applying it effectively in a dynamic nuclear site environment.
This role requires an individual who is proactive and makes accountable decision to support the construction operations team.

Key Objectives
Project Delivery
- Undertake studies and develop solutions to deliver the projects end point requirements.
- Prepare documentation to support project delivery, to include:
- Control Plans
- Method Statements
- Risk Assessments
- LTQR documentation
- Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to identify services, plant and equipment required in support of the project.
- Liaise with procurement to ensure that all services, plant and equipment are procured in accordance with the company procedures.
- Management and assist with construction documentation.
- Raise and close out TQ's in collaboration with Engineers, Designers and Project Managers
- Liaise with supervisors to support the co-ordination and management of operatives and technicians.
- Manage operatives and technicians as required under the guidance of the Project Manager, Construction Manager & Site manger.
- Ensure and promote effective communication and working between disciplines to support the overall delivery of the project objectives.
- Support the Construction / Site Manager in the following activities:
- Management of all activities in accordance with the NSG QSHEW Management System and best practice.
- Provision of information to maintain the project programme.
- Provision of information on the costs to date and future costs.
- Identification and communication of project risks and opportunities.
- Stakeholder liaison and management.
- Sub-contract and supplier management and expediting.
Technical Competency
- Ensure personal, professional, technical and engineering competency through continuing professional development
- Understand the technical aspects of a project and develop design and engineering solutions with our in house specialists or supply chain support as necessary.
- Consolidation and collation of design and engineering documentation for internal approvals and presentation to the client as necessary.
Extra responsibilities
- Assist with electrical isolations in accordance with Energy Isolation Procedure, coordinating with facility stakeholders including WCC/ACC, Control Room, and Facility Managers.
- Ensure all electrical testing is conducted in accordance with BS 7671:2018+A3:2024 Part 6 and IET Guidance Note 3, including dead and live testing procedures and client engineering standards.
- Support commissioning activities where required, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for electrical systems where required.
- Prepare and maintain electrical quality documentation including but not limited to 806 series test sheets, and electrical installation certificates, red line drawings that would form part of the LTQR's.
- Coordinate with AP(e) for electrical safety oversight and ensure compliance with project specific Mandatory Elements and Engineering Standards.
- Support project lifecycle from requirements to handover where required.
- Coordinate work activities through Work Control procedures, raising and managing various Task Level Work Authorisation Forms (WAFs).
- Assist with quality control requirements as per Graded Approach to Quality Control, maintaining appropriate QC level for project classification.
- Support materials procurement and alignment of items against construction drawings, supporting compliance with Supply Chain Quality Assurance requirements.
- Coordinate Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) with appropriate hold points and witness percentages in line with inspection and test sheets.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline - desirable
- Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - desirable
- Relevant on Site management Qualifications SMSTS, SSSTS - essential
- Relevant Level 3 qualifications in relevant discipline - essential
- Relevant Design Qualifications in relevant discipline - essential
Experience & Knowledge
- Understanding of the Project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within NSG - desirable
- Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry - essential
- Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG - desirable
- Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - essential
- Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc - essential
