Job Title: Head of Rotating Equipment
Location: Qatar (Doha and Ras Laffan)
Start Date: April 2026
Contract Duration: 36 months, with potential extension
Working Hours: 10 hours per day, 5 days per week (approximately 22 days per month)
Rotation:
- Single status: 12 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- Married status: Residential
Overview
- We are supporting a leading international energy operator on a major onshore development project.
- This is a senior leadership role responsible for the technical delivery and oversight of all rotating equipment and machinery engineering activities across FEED and EPC phases.
- The successful candidate will ensure equipment design, execution, and performance meet project objectives for safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the rotating equipment engineering discipline and provide technical direction to FEED and EPC contractors.
- Ensure all machinery design activities comply with project specifications, international standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide engineering surveillance and technical assurance for contractor deliverables, including data sheets, calculations, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Monitor contractor performance, progress, and resource capability within the discipline.
- Review and resolve complex technical issues to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Support technical evaluations and risk-based decision making for critical engineering matters.
- Ensure approved machinery design practices are implemented to improve reliability, safety, and operational performance.
- Coordinate rotating equipment interfaces with other engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, quality, and commissioning teams.
- Support project phases including detailed design, procurement, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover.
- Participate in site safety activities, including safety walks, toolbox talks, and construction phase oversight.
- Ensure contractors and vendors deliver work in accordance with approved specifications and safe working practices.
- Maintain effective working relationships with contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Track discipline progress and report status, risks, and mitigation actions.
- Capture and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Safety and Compliance
- Demonstrate strong leadership in Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security performance.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Support workforce development and knowledge transfer initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal and corporate governance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 6 years in the oil and gas industry.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory, lead, or contractor oversight role.
- Strong experience working with operators, EPC contractors, equipment vendors, or service providers.
- Proven experience across full project lifecycle including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Strong understanding of project execution processes including planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, change management, and interface management.
- Broad knowledge of international engineering codes, standards, and machinery design practices.
- Experience in contract management and contractor performance oversight.
- Technical experience with rotating equipment such as compressors, pumps, and high-pressure systems.
- Experience with pulsation studies and related analysis methodologies is preferred.
- Background working with rotating equipment manufacturers or specialist vendors is advantageous.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and coordination skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Ability to resolve technical challenges, influence decisions, and work independently with minimal supervision.
