Work Environment

As an Electrical Design Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a central role in our hardware development with two main focus areas. On one hand, you will be responsible for the complete development cycle of electronic assemblies - from concept and circuit design through simulation and layout to commissioning. On the other hand, you will act as a technical expert accompanying our engineering partners' projects through comprehensive reviews of schematics and layouts, technical clarifications, cost optimization considerations, and quality assurance. Your focus is on developing and ensuring robust, reliable, and manufacturing-optimized designs while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Job Purpose/Role

• Your main tasks include both the conception and realization of in-house electronic solutions as well as the technical support and evaluation of external development projects

• Development of system concepts and electrical architectures for new products

• Creation of analog and digital circuits, schematics, and multilayer PCB layouts using common ECAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar)

• Performing simulations to ensure signal and power integrity (SI/PI)

• Cost optimization through targeted component selection and design for manufacturing (DFM/DFA)

• Research, selection, and qualification of electronic components considering cost, availability, longevity, and technical requirements

• Creation and maintenance of complete technical documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), manufacturing documents, test specifications, and design reviews

• Bring-up, testing, and debugging of prototype electronic assemblies, including development and execution of validation test procedures

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

• Education: Successfully completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Communications Engineering, or a comparable field (Bachelor, Master, Diploma)

• Professional Experience: several years of professional experience in hardware design, ideally in the development of embedded systems or high-frequency applications

• ECAD Skills: Proficient use of ECAD systems like Altium Designer, Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar

• Simulation Expertise: Sound knowledge and practical experience with simulation tools for signal and power integrity (e.g., Ansys HFSS, SiSoft, Keysight ADS, SPICE)

• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of analog and digital circuit design, high-speed design principles, EMC-compliant design, and relevant standards (IEC, UL)

• Experience in design-to-cost and design-to-manufacturing methods as well as conducting placement studies

• Review Competence: Experience in evaluating and reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, and concepts with the ability to provide constructive and precise feedback

• Experience with system safety concepts, industry security standards (e.g. ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434), or related areas is a plus

• Fluent in English (mandatory)
