Job Title: HSE Advisor (Civil Engineering - Data Centre Project)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support the delivery of a large-scale data centre project in Helsinki, Finland, with a focus on the civil engineering package (groundworks, concrete, structural works, utilities, and associated infrastructure).
The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across site operations, supporting safe execution of works in accordance with Finnish legislation, EU directives, and company HSE standards.
This is a site-based position requiring strong field presence and proactive engagement with supervisors, subcontractors, and the client team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day HSE support to the civil construction team on site
Monitor compliance with Finnish health & safety legislation and project-specific HSE requirements
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks
Support and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Ensure high-risk activities are properly planned and controlled, including:
Excavations and deep drainage works
Lifting operations
Temporary works
Concrete pours and structural works
Heavy plant operations
Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks
Participate in daily briefings and coordination meetings
Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis
Track and report HSE performance metrics
Promote a positive safety culture and behavioural safety initiatives
Liaise with client HSE representatives and regulatory authorities as required
Ensure environmental controls are maintained (waste management, dust, noise, spill prevention)
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Relevant HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
Proven experience as an HSE Advisor on large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Experience working on mission-critical or data centre projects preferred
Strong knowledge of excavation safety, lifting operations, and temporary works
Experience working in a multi-contractor environment
Excellent communication and reporting skills
Fluent English (spoken and written)
Desirable:
Knowledge of Finnish HSE legislation
Experience working in Nordic countries
First Aid certification
