Contribute to the next generation of offshore wind turbines

As a Structural Engineer at GustoMSC, you will play a key role in enabling our clients to install the current and next generation of offshore wind turbines. You'll be contributing to the design and integrity of complex engineering equipment components - including heavy lift cranes, jacking systems, and other advanced equipment that we develop and supply.

We are looking for a Structural Engineer who is ready to take on this challenge and help shape the future.

Structural Engineer

You will contribute to our cutting-edge design cranes, jacking systems and other equipment in the GustoMSC/NOV portfolio in order to remain the market leading company that we are today. You are confident about your abilities in structural engineering and decision making and open to suggestions and arguments of others to reassess your own. You are able to think along in complex design methods when needed but are also able to stick to hand calculations if going for the last optimization is not required. You can and want to contribute technically to projects and are eager to share your knowledge and experience with colleagues. In this role you will make the design and structural verification of new equipment such as a boom structure for our Heavy Lift Cranes (up to 5000t SWL), with involvement and responsibility from concept to reviewing detailed design and support fabricators with construction and installation. With our growing fleet of active units in operation, also support to clients during the lifetime of their units with engineering support, both upgrades (such as boom extensions) but also assessment of structural damages including Root Cause Analysis will be part of your function.

Based in our Schiedam office, a Senior Engineer will be reporting to the Team Lead / Lead Engineer.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Design and verify structures in compliance with applicable class, industry & internal standards. By hand calculations, available tooling or FE software
  • Contribute to larger scopes of complex projects, such as slewing platforms or booms, or act as Lead engineer for smaller projects .
  • Supporting designers in building a 3D CAD model of the structure assigned to you.
  • Assigned scope to be executed within time and budget
  • Interface management with other disciplines
  • Contribute to, review and approval of engineering project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal work methods and standardization.

  • Provide input for installation, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Travel and visits to fabricators, vendors, and construction sites can be required.


Qualifications:

  • Msc or Bsc degree in a relevant study such as Civil engineering or Mechanical engineering.
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in design of complex structures and systems.
  • Familiar with common class rules such as DNV,EN and ABS.
  • Extensive experience in working with an FE software package. Experience with in-house used NX is a pre
  • You communicate clearly and confidently in English, both in writing and in speech.
  • Ability to plan, see required sequence of work, distinguish main and side issues, see the bigger picture.
