The Role
As an Oil & Gas Systems Engineer, you will play a key customer-facing role, providing the installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support of advanced security and software platforms across oil & gas installations. Acting as a trusted technical advisor, you will work closely with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions, resolve complex issues, and ensure exceptional service delivery.

This is a hands-on role suited to a technically strong, personable engineer who enjoys being on-site, solving problems, and building long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities
System Installation & Technical Support
  • Install, commission, and support security and software systems to defined specifications
  • Provide on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical training
  • Investigate and resolve system faults in onshore and offshore environments
  • Ensure high-quality system handover and accurate technical documentation
  • Maintain detailed records in CRM and ticketing systems
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Act as a primary technical point of contact for customers and partners
  • Understand customer operational and technical requirements to align solutions effectively
  • Deliver professional on-site and off-site support services
  • Provide consultative advice on system implementation, integration, training, and change requests
Product & Technical Expertise
  • Develop deep technical knowledge of the company’s hardware and software platforms
  • Advise customers on best practice system deployment
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges
Pre-Sales & Cross-Functional Support
  • Support pre-sales activities through technical input and customer requirement gathering
  • Contribute to technical proposals, solution design, and product improvement feedback
  • Act as a technical bridge between customers, sales, and engineering teams
Travel
  • Regular UK and international travel, including offshore work, depending on project requirements
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
  • Experience working within oil & gas or hazardous industrial environments
  • Strong technical background in IP-based systems, networking, and software platforms
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Willingness to travel, including offshore and overseas assignments
  • Full UK driving licence and valid passport
  • Eligibility to achieve security screening (BS7858 / DBS)
Desirable:
  • Experience with CCTV, surveillance, or security systems
  • COMPEX or hazardous area training
  • Electrical safety knowledge (18th Edition or equivalent)
  • Offshore certifications (Medical / Survival / Fire)
