EngineeringThe Malvern Panalytical Process and Automation Solutions team are looking for a senior electrical engineer who will support us with design and development of electrical equipment and control boxes for automation projects for industrial laboratories, from conceptualization to design, build, install and final commissioning.
You will be working in a team that has a lot of creativity going on to make customer's dream of the automated laboratory come true. You will be in close contact with the end user, and will implement the final solution more with them, rather than only for them. Challenges lie in speed optimization, robustness and usability. Travelling to customers worldwide for meetings and installations is an important part of the job.
ROLE PURPOSETake responsibility for the development of electronics and installations for the control of automated in-line systems for sample preparation and analysis.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKWorking in the PAS (Process and Automation Solutions) department, the position encompasses managing the electronics related aspects of automation and special machine projects for both external and internal customers. Normally, these are automated setups for materials analysis in industrial laboratories.
The person we are looking for is designing, developing, testing, installing and commissioning the electronics aspects during the entire project using a hands-on approach. Installation after the factory acceptance test at the customer site is part of the job. Customer support after installation is also part of the activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, assembly and installation of electrical circuits and control boxes for automation systems.
- Document and archive electronics related parts of the customer specific installations
- Understand the intent of existing designs and critical to quality functional elements.
- Solve problems as they relate to electrical engineering issues, working closely with other technical specialists
- Carry out experiments to validate instrument performance.
- Participate in project architectural discussions, through an appreciation of the overall system design
- Provide support to the local service teams to maintain and support the installations at the customer site.
SKILLS / COMPETENCES NEEDED
- Electronic design of large systems for sample preparation and analysis
- Design of interfaces for control and automation of third-party equipment
- Creation of documentation for Installation, Usage and Maintenance
- Fluently in English and Dutch or willing to learn; basic understanding of French and German is a pre
- International travel to customer or supplier sites (15%)
EDUCATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE
- Electrical engineering (BSc or MSc).
- 7-10 years of relevant experience with technical automation or equivalent in the working environment.
- Experienced with E-plan software for electrotechnical design
- Knowledge of relevant regulations (CE / Machine directives)
