About the Project
Mozambique LNG is a world-class LNG development with an overall investment of approximately $18 billion. The onshore scope includes two LNG trains (13 mtpa total capacity), LNG and condensate storage, marine facilities, power generation systems, utilities, and early site infrastructure.
The Afungi site is a large-scale, multinational joint venture environment with a peak workforce of up to 15,000 personnel. The project is financed by high-profile international lenders and operates within a complex social and environmental framework.

This is a rotational site-based position located in a remote area of Northern Mozambique.
The Role Reporting to the OSBL Area 3 Manager (Utilities, Pipeline, MEG), the OSBL Area 3 Field Superintendent will support oversight and monitoring of the EPC Contractor across Utilities, Pipeline Corridor, and associated OSBL infrastructure.
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of construction activities through to pre-commissioning and handover to Operations, ensuring compliance with project schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by example in fostering a strong HSE culture across Client and EPC Contractor teams
  • Ensure full compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental requirements
  • Monitor construction activities from execution through system handover to Commissioning
  • Maintain a visible site presence, ensuring oversight of contractor and subcontractor performance
  • Review and challenge EPC Contractor construction progress and identify schedule risks
  • Propose mitigation strategies and technical/organizational improvements
  • Oversee SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) and transition into commissioning phases
  • Coordinate closely with QA/QC teams to ensure works meet required standards
  • Ensure proper documentation, as-built records, and structured handover to Operations
  • Participate in site emergency drills and incident investigations
  • Promote collaboration, team spirit, and continuous improvement within the team
Accountabilities
  • Safe delivery of designated OSBL facilities during the Construction phase
  • Coordination with all relevant departments to deliver a fit-for-purpose facility
  • On-time and on-budget execution aligned with approved project schedules

Education & Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline (advanced degree/professional qualification preferred)
Experience
  • Minimum 15 years’ industry experience
  • At least 5 years in a Superintendent or equivalent leadership role
  • Minimum 10 years on greenfield projects
  • Proven experience in LNG (preferred), petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, or pipeline projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing SIMOPS and commissioning transitions
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO, NFPA)
  • Deep understanding of safety management, environmental compliance, scheduling, QA/QC, and risk mitigation
  • Experience with documentation control and structured handover processes
Leadership & Communication
  • Strong safety leadership and ability to influence contractor performance
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Portuguese or French is an advantage)
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and high-pressure project environment
