EngineeringOur client, the operator of a major LNG project in Africa, is seeking a Head of Maintenance, to work within their Operations department.
This role will commence in Milan, Italy, in September this year. The role will later move to a 28/28 rotation at site, after around 2 years in Milan.
Service purpose:
Manage all necessary preventive and corrective maintenance activities and overhauls in LNG plant to ensure the technical integrity & required availability of equipment’s.

Service purpose:
Manage all necessary preventive and corrective maintenance activities and overhauls in LNG plant to ensure the technical integrity & required availability of equipment’s.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure safety of personnel, environment protection, and the technical integrity of equipment’s in his domain of activities, implement HSE rules and follow procedures.
- Ensure good housekeeping of offices, workshops, storages and site, maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensure equipment’s are appropriately stored.
- Participate in the near misses analyses, HAZOPs, technical reviews, risk assessment, safety audits, RCA, incidents and accidents analyses.
- Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise all the maintenance activities to ensure safe and reliable operation of subsea, LNG trains, utilities, offsite, storage and loading.
- Lead maintenance teams for preventive and corrective actions.
- Ensure quality control of execution during maintenance activities.
- Provide plant maintenance team with advice & guidance in solving technical problems.
- Ensure root cause analysis of failure is done where necessary, improve reliability and reduce the number of technical failures.
- Provide necessary guidance and technical expertise to all maintenance operations to achieve maintenance of facilities at minimum cost.
- Prepare manpower, material, contract, operating and capital budgets.
- Propose and recommend Opex and Capex improvements to maximize Company financial result.
- Follow up the budget and expenses, man-hours, spare parts and consumable consumption.
- Control and review all maintenance expenditures, report regularly on variances.
- Coordinate the work of the maintenance department with production and upstream operations, regarding the short/midterm planning.
- Supervise the overall mid and long-term planning with Operation and Business including major planned overhauls.
- Ensure that required work is completed in accordance with job schedules, agreed practices.
- Review periodically the preventive maintenance plan and adjust frequencies.
- Ensure reporting of planned and unplanned interventions through CMMS and analysis of event is done.
- Make sure review of documentation, procedures, safety manual and other related documents are done regularly and documents archived.
- Validate and approve maintenance procedures, ensure procedures are implemented.
- Manage development of employees and especially Nationals to obtain maximum performance for the company.
- Participate at the identification of training needs and ensure the proper implementation of approved training development programs within his department
- Discuss with and set up objectives on an annual basis for subordinates and review on a regular basis.
- Perform end of year appraisals.
Candidate requirements
- Master of higher education in Rotating/Mechanical, Instrumentation/Control or Electrical Engineering or equivalent with international standard and solid experience
- Minimum 20 years specific maintenance experience in oil, gas or petrochemical industry
- Minimum 10 years in Senior Maintenance Positions
- Minimum 10 years in LNG producing plants, not LNG terminals
- Excellent leadership (150 staff)
- Excellent level of knowledge of oil & gas / LNG equipment’s, maintenance, repair and methods.
- Excellent knowledge of industrial gas turbines (such as GE Frame 7 and Siemens SGT800), large rotating equipment’s (compressors, expanders, pumps…), LNG loading arms and hydraulic.
- Good knowledge of International instrumented safety systems standard.
- Good knowledge of International electrical safety systems standards (including ATEX / Ex).
- Familiarity with international codes & standards.
- Good knowledge of maintenance SAP (like CMIMS).
- Good knowledge of computer applications and methods.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
