Overview
We are seeking a Senior Interface Engineer to manage and coordinate internal interfaces across multiple disciplines within major projects. The role ensures alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, preventing delays, conflicts, or rework. The successful candidate will act as the focal point for interface management, monitor performance, identify risks, and recommend solutions to maintain project schedules and deliverables.
The role promotes adherence to occupational health, safety, environment, energy, and quality management systems in all interface activities.
Key Responsibilities
Management Systems

Comply with all relevant policies and procedures of integrated management systems including Quality, Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, Energy, and Product Stewardship

Ensure project HSEQ requirements are prioritised and actively implemented in day-to-day activities
Internal Interface Identification & Management

Lead internal interface activities, coordinating across engineering disciplines, contractor teams, and internal stakeholders

Identify and define internal interfaces and tie-ins during concept and design phases

Raise principle decisions based on concept studies to initiate coordination and project alignment

Launch internal projects based on approved concepts, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget alignment
Coordination & Follow-Up

Conduct regular coordination meetings with projects teams to track progress of internal projects and tie-ins

Monitor execution of internal projects to ensure timelines and budgets are met

Flag delays or risks to the Project Director and propose mitigation actions
Engineering Collaboration

Work with discipline engineers (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, etc.) to validate and document internal interface points

Ensure technical integrity and traceability of internal interfaces throughout design, construction, and commissioning phases
Schedule & Risk Monitoring

Monitor critical path activities related to internal interfaces and ensure alignment with commissioning schedules

Identify and track risks associated with internal interfaces and coordinate mitigation strategies

Escalate deviations to the Project Director and ensure recovery plans are implemented
Quality, Standards & Compliance

Ensure all internal interface activities meet project quality standards, technical specifications, and good engineering practices

Verify that all process technologies, tie-ins, and operational aspects are implemented safely and are commissioning-ready

Ensure compliance with governance documents, project procedures, and project information manuals
Reporting & Documentation

Prepare internal interface reports and conduct coordination meetings with stakeholders

Track delivery of internal spare parts, capital spares, and special tools with contractors

Maintain comprehensive documentation of interface activities, approvals, and communications
Interface Register Management

Develop and maintain a project internal interface register mapping all tie-ins, stakeholders, documentation requirements, and target completion dates

Use the register to monitor progress, flag delays, track dependencies, and support decision-making
Educational Qualification & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline

Professional certification in project management or engineering desirable

Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3–5 years in major projects

Strong technical and non-technical skills in interface management, coordination, and reporting
