Location: Qatar – Onshore 20% / Offshore 80%

Schedule: Offshore-based, 12 hours/day, 7 days/week, 28 days on / 28 days off
Overview
We are seeking a Commissioning Lead – Process to oversee offshore hook-up and commissioning activities for a major energy infrastructure project. The role provides technical leadership and guidance to contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all process commissioning activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements and international standards.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical oversight and guidance for offshore and onshore hook-up and commissioning operations

Collaborate closely with project teams, engineering, operations, and contractors to ensure alignment of commissioning activities

Review and approve contractor procedures, redlines, and technical documentation throughout construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases

Support change management processes for hook-up and commissioning strategies

Validate readiness of systems for handover to operations teams

Analyse technical proposals, assess deviations, exceptions, and new technologies for compliance with project requirements

Support qualification of new suppliers and monitor contractor manpower loading

Develop and implement recovery plans to maintain schedule adherence, particularly for long-lead items and critical milestones

Witness contractor scopes, sign off tests, and verify accurate progress reporting

Participate in quality audits and report findings with corrective action plans as required

Apply lessons learned from previous projects and support continuous improvement
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related discipline
Experience and Knowledge

Minimum 8 years’ experience in large-scale project commissioning within oil & gas, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role

Strong knowledge of hook-up and commissioning processes, completions walkdowns, and pre-startup safety reviews

In-depth understanding of process design, flow assurance, hydrostatic and nitrogen leak testing, and performance testing of compressors

Familiarity with design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria relevant to offshore/onshore fabrication, transport, installation, and hook-up

Experience in large-scale operations, projects, and start-up support in the energy sector

Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, datasheets, general arrangement drawings, and procedures

Experience liaising with vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
