We are seeking a Principal Project Engineer (Installation Methods) to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team based in our Paris office.
PG supports Subsea7’s pipelay projects worldwide, and our installation engineers play a key role in delivering solutions to complex engineering challenges. Our teams are recognised for their deep technical expertise and their ability to manage critical subjects across both business improvement initiatives and major projects.
In this role, you will contribute to — or lead — a diverse team of installation engineers, coordinating pipeline installation methodologies for global projects at tender and execution stages. You will support the smooth daily operations of the installation engineering team, while providing regular updates regarding project progress, technical matters, and resource management.

In this role, you will contribute to — or lead — a diverse team of installation engineers, coordinating pipeline installation methodologies for global projects at tender and execution stages. You will support the smooth daily operations of the installation engineering team, while providing regular updates regarding project progress, technical matters, and resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support or lead a team of methods engineers, delivering installation scopes from early engagement with internal/external clients through to offshore execution on our Reel Lay, S‑Lay, or J‑Lay assets.
- Serve as a technical reference for pipeline installation methodologies and contribute to subcontractor selection.
- Prepare installation method statements and procedures, support procurement activities, follow up subcontractors, and contribute actively to HSEQ initiatives.
- Perform installation rigging calculations and support rigging design activities.
- Assist the Tendering department with feasibility studies, method statements, manhour estimates, schedule input, and cost assessments.
- Support the procurement, fabrication, and testing follow-up of installation aids.
- Follow and support your scope offshore onboard our installation vessels when required.
- Degree in Engineering, Marine/Naval/Offshore Technology, Civil, Mechanical, or equivalent field.
- Extensive experience as a Project Engineer, preferably within the offshore energy industry.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams.
- Solid understanding of offshore pipeline installation methods (Reel Lay, J‑Lay, S‑Lay experience is highly desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to guide and manage engineers across complex project scopes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation.
- Comfortable working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
