Job Title: Offshore E&I Commissioning Technician
Contract Duration
Initial contract until 30 June 2027, with potential for extension.
Location
Onshore phase in China followed by offshore rotation in Qatar. Offshore rotation will be 28 days on and 28 days off.
Role Overview
We are supporting a major international energy operator delivering a large offshore development. This role offers the opportunity to support commissioning and start-up activities for a new offshore installation, working closely with operations, commissioning and project teams to ensure safe and efficient start-up and first production.
Key Responsibilities

Support the execution and witnessing of operational test procedures

Assist with commissioning activities including leak testing, functional testing and first fill

Support preparation and implementation of start-up procedures and detailed start-up sequences

Coordinate with commissioning, operations and project teams to ensure operational readiness

Participate in risk assessments, job safety analyses and pre-start-up safety reviews

Support permit to work activities related to commissioning and start-up
-
Monitor and report progress of start-up activities
-
Verify equipment status including critical valves, isolations and inhibitions

Support punch list review and resolution where required
-
Maintain up-to-date redline P and IDs for field operations
-
Ensure field teams are aware of new systems, procedures and safety requirements

Support SIMOPS coordination and temporary site configurations

Coordinate vendor mobilisation and site readiness for start-up
-
Promote an incident-free culture by reporting hazards, defects and improvement opportunities

Participate in emergency response and crisis response training when required
Qualifications and Experience

Higher National Diploma, technical certificate or equivalent qualification
-
Minimum 5 years experience in oil and gas production operations or commissioning
-
Previous offshore operations or commissioning experience

Strong safety awareness and operational responsibility

Ability to work independently while maintaining effective teamwork

Willingness to work extended shifts and rotational offshore schedules

Fluent in spoken and written English

Computer literate
Mandatory Certifications
-
Offshore survival and medical certification such as T-BOSIET or equivalent
-
H2S certification (OPITO approved)

Basic firefighting

Permit to Work and Job Safety Analysis awareness

Confined Space Entry and Authorised Gas Tester

Lifting and rigging and manual handling training
-
Lockout and Tagout and energy isolation awareness

Radiation protection awareness
Technical Requirements
Instrumentation
-
Strong knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems
-
Experience with safety systems including ESD and Fire and Gas
-
Familiarity with field calibration equipment and tools
-
Understanding of hazardous area equipment and Ex principles
-
Experience with small bore tubing preferred
Electrical
-
Experience with HV and LV equipment including generators, motors and switchgear
-
Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams
-
Understanding of hazardous area electrical installations
Working Environment
-
Full-time onshore role during engineering, construction and yard commissioning
-
Offshore rotation during hook-up, commissioning and start-up
-
International travel between project locations required
-
Role may transition into offshore operations following project completion
