What You'll Be Doing

Year 1 - Full-Time College

You'll begin your journey by building strong technical foundations through full-time study at college. This includes key mechanical engineering principles, health & safety, and workshop skills-all designed to prepare you for real-world engineering challenges.

Years 2-4 - Become Part of the Engineering Team

From year two, you'll be based on site, working alongside experienced engineers to develop your practical skills. You'll gain confidence as you:

Monitor and maintain plant equipment to ensure smooth and safe operations

Work to a preventative maintenance schedule, helping keep equipment reliable and efficient

Respond quickly to breakdowns, learning how to diagnose faults and get machinery back up and running

Support improvements and modifications, including manufacturing or adapting parts to enhance production performance

Learn how engineering supports the entire manufacturing process

This hands-on experience will give you a deep understanding of how a modern production plant operates-and the essential role engineers play every day.
