Job Description
A Marine Mechanical Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of mechanical systems across a range of marine vessels. The role ensures the reliable operation of engines, drivetrains, fuel systems, cooling systems, steering gear, hydraulics, and auxiliary equipment. Working to marine industry standards, the specialist supports both routine servicing and complex mechanical repairs, ensuring vessels remain safe, efficient, and operational for deployment. The position plays a key role in maintaining fleet readiness and delivering high-quality mechanical workmanship within a marine environment

Objectives

Deliver the following departmental objectives: -

• Following schedules to maintain deliveries dates
• Being able to cross trade when needed
• Ability to inspect products for fit, form and function requirements.
• Able to suggest improved methodology relating to all mechanical assemblies

• Ensure staff work to the correct standards and procedures

• Forward planning to make sure project follows to schedule
• Develop, encourage and to apply mechanical engineering principles to identify, analyse, and solve complex engineering problems, ensuring practical and cost-effective solutions
• To ensure that all mechanical systems, products and components quality standards through testing and validation.
• Maintain standards for health and safety within department
• Take responsibility to ensure that the company's environmental policies are enforced in full
• To reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents by implementing comprehensive safety programs and promoting safe work behaviours
