Context
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer/Tunnel Ventilation Engineer, with particular specialism in tunnel ventilation for railways, to join our engineering team. This position within our MEP engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team.
The Mechanical Engineer/Tunnel Ventilation Engineer will be accountable for the delivery of tunnel ventilation design allocated to MEP Projects, including but not limited to high-speed rail.
Missions/Main Duties
The Mechanical Engineer/Tunnel Ventilation Engineer's main duties will be to develop solutions for tunnel ventilation for MEP projects including high-speed rail, as well as the production of MEP designs as instructed by the projects Contractors Responsible Engineer and/or Lead Engineer and to be responsible for:

- Ensuring designs are completed to meet Lead Engineers requirements.
- Ensuring designs are completed to the timescales agreed with the Lead Engineer.
- Planning the allocated design works to meet the agreed timescales.
- Identify changes to the projects client requirements and raise the changes with the Lead Engineer.
Profile/Skills
Essential
- Qualification: HNC or equivalent
- Experience in MEP/Tunnel Ventilation.
- Knowledge of mechanical services design within the built environment or transport infrastructure including HVAC, Public Health, Building Physics and BIM
- Experience in the use of industry wide software for mechanical calculation purposes
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with M&E and building services
- Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English.
- Flexibility in working hours will be required to meet the demands of the role.
- Ability to travel to client sites and other SYSTRA offices will be required.
- Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards.
Desirable
- Previous consultancy environment experience advantageous.
- Significant engineering design and site experience in a similar consultancy or contractor organisation.
- Ideally have proven experience in the design/review, installation, and commissioning of tunnel ventilation systems.
