Job Overview
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with ETAP expertise to join its Doha office. This role spans study, FEED, EPC, and PMC scopes for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects. The engineer will execute project work according to the project execution plan, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets are met.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver electrical engineering design, analysis, and documentation with minimal guidance

Prepare and review electrical design basis, specifications, load schedules, single line diagrams, protection and control schemes, calculations, relay settings, layouts, and enquiry packages for HV/LV switchgear, transformers, drive systems, and UPS

Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, transient, motor starting, harmonic studies, and arc flash assessments using ETAP or equivalent tools

Supervise and mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and discipline leadership where required

Lead or support electrical deliverables for small to medium complexity projects, taking accountability for cost, schedule, resources, and risk

Conduct vendor evaluations, technical quotation reviews, and approve order variation summaries

Develop material take-off for electrical scope and coordinate technical reviews with vendors of major equipment

Conduct site surveys and brownfield assessments, prepare reports, and support site-based activities

Participate in project and design reviews, audits, and workshops as required

Liaise with clients and internal teams on technical matters, ensuring alignment and resolution of site or technical queries

Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial and technical risks within the scope of work
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s in Power System Engineering is an advantage

Enrolled on the Register of Engineers in Qatar (Grade A) or Chartered Engineer status
Experience and Skills

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas sector

Demonstrated experience across greenfield and brownfield projects, onshore and offshore, from Pre-FEED through EPC

Proficiency in ETAP (protection coordination, harmonic, arc flash, transient studies, and core modules); PSCAD knowledge is a plus

Experience with electrical design tools such as SPEL and Aveva Electrical

Familiarity with electrical HAZOP / SAFOP completion

Strong analytical, innovation, and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated leadership in guiding junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and supervise engineering resources to meet project expectations
