EngineeringUnder the direction of the CSU Manager, the Liquid Hydrogen (LHY) CSU Coordinator will be responsible for preparing and leading the safe Commissioning and Startup of the Hydrogen Liquification Unit. This position will also support the Air Separation Unit (ASU) commissioning as it will come on stream first and is a similar cryogenic plant. Responsibilities include:

During the Construction Phase (2026):
Build Knowledge of Company, the project and the LHY Unit:
- Get up to speed on the project as quickly as possible, e.g. CSU Execution Plan, project schedule, systemization.
- Become knowledgeable on the Process Unit assigned, building the required expertise to lead and coordinate the required C&SU work.
- Meet and establish relationships with the key personnel you will interact with (i.e. CSU, Construction, Engineering, Operations)
- Understand Company terminology, procedures and standards.
- Receive Company training on their Safe Work Permit (SWP) standard and become qualified to issue SWP’s.
- Understand the scope of each System and the sequence those systems are to be turned over.
- Understand the System cleaning plans that have been prepared. Assist with the review and finalization of Cleaning Contractor procedures.
- Support finalizing any temporary spools and other “consumables” required for the CSU phase of the LHY Unit.
- Review, comment and finalize all LHY Commissioning Packages and Procedures, aligning with Vendor and Company engineering requirements.
- Become familiar with “SmartCompletions”, the Company Completions Management System (CMS) tool
- Support “Construction Complete” walkdowns of the LHY Systems and Modules.
- Understand the Punch List process within SmartCompletions and the CSU System Handover Management Process
Safety:
- Follow Company EH&S Standards.
- Be a leader in the safe approach to execution of all CSU work in the field. Audit, intervene, coach & mentor as required.
- Follow the SIMOPS Plan requirements and communicate all planned activities to the Construction work force, face-to-face.
- Support the Operations Readiness Inspection (ORI/PSSR), validating requirements have been satisfactorily met, prior to Startup.
- Ensure Construction Complete & Mechanically Complete (CC, MC/STCC) Walkdowns are attended and performed to a high standard.
- Attend the daily CSU execution meetings; prepare for the 3-week lookahead.
- Take instructions from the daily planning meetings and coordinate the activities between Field Operations and the Craft Discipline Leads.
- Lead the resolution of issues in the Field – e.g. safety concerns, issues or barriers to executing work. Escalate when required.
- Be the CSU liaison with Vendors and speciality contractors while they are on-site. Assist them with resolving any barriers to executing their work. Monitor their progress.
- Support developing and issuing nightshift Daily Order Instructions (DOI's) for the LHY unit
- Leak & Pressure Testing: Execute high-pressure leak tests and vacuum tests, ensuring the integrity of the "cold box" and storage systems.
- Equipment Commissioning: Assist in the startup of hydrogen compressors, turbo-expanders, and ortho-to-para hydrogen conversion catalysts.
- Safety & Purging: Execute complex nitrogen and helium purging cycles to ensure the system is free of oxygen and moisture before hydrogen introduction.
- Cryogenic Loading: Manage the initial cool-down sequences and the first introduction of liquid hydrogen into storage tanks.
- 5 years in gas processing, refining, or cryogenic air separation units (ASU). Direct experience with Hydrogen liquification or LNG is an asset.
- Cryogenic Knowledge: understanding of the properties of liquid hydrogen, including its boiling point (approx. -253°C) and the risks of contamination by air.
- Rotating Equipment: Familiarity with high-speed turbo-machinery and reciprocating compressors.
- Certifications (Academic, Professional): Power Engineer (min 3rd Class), or Journeyman Interprovincial Red Seal, or Process Technician/ Technologist or Professional Process Engineer required or equivalent experience in a similar role.
